Marshall Aerospace Selects Liquid Measurement Systems for Fuel Gauging on Bombardier Q400 External Auxiliary System

(GEORGIA, VT, 4 November 2014) — Marshall Aerospace and Defense Group of Cambridge, UK has selected Liquid Measurement Systems (LMS) to supply the external auxiliary fuel quantity gauging system for Bombardier Aerospace’s Q400 twin-engine, medium range, turboprop airliner.

Marshall is on contract with Bombardier to design, manufacture and supply an external auxiliary fuel system for the Bombardier Q400. This system will significantly increase the aircraft’s endurance.

LMS will design and manufacture the system’s fuel measurement solution, which includes signal conditioners, cockpit and refuel panel indicator displays, and composite capacitance-style fuel gauging probes. The companies anticipate first deliveries of production hardware in early 2016.

LMS is the industry’s only source for fuel probes made of carbon fiber, which makes them incredibly light-weight and resilient. In an industry where every ounce of weight on an aircraft is critical, these probes don’t just measure fuel — they help conserve it, by reducing the overall aircraft weight. LMS also designs and builds multi-channel signal conditioners that operate with proprietary DO-178 software, and multi-tank indicators that are customized for each application.

LMS CEO George Lamphere said, “The LMS Team is privileged to work with Marshall ADG to provide versatile, safe, reliable and accurate fuel systems solutions for Bombardier’s Q400 global customer base.”
